Julia Kadel

piano, composition

“A revelation” – Hamburger Abendblatt

As a pianist, composer and improviser from Berlin, Julia Kadel is one of the most exciting voices on the European jazz scene. With their experimental, expressive music, Julia thrills audiences on international stages – from renowned philharmonic halls to festivals throughout Europe.

Julia has been named a “Top Ten Key Player” by Jazzthing magazine, received the HfM Jazz Prize and the Jazz Pott and was nominated twice for the Echo Jazz award. In addition to solo appearances – for example at the Green Hours Festival in Bucharest or the Beethovenhaus Bonn – Julia is also present with their own trio, which has released four albums on Universal/Blue Note and MPS.

Julia’s musical work is characterized by social reflection, artistic curiosity and emotional openness – also inspired by their psychology studies. In interdisciplinary projects with artists such as Julian Day and Stefan Mayer-Twiehaus, Julia combines sound art with dance, theater and installation.

As a founder of the Queer Cheer Community for “Jazz” and Improvised Music Germany, Julia is actively committed to the visibility and promotion of queer artists. Queer Cheer was awarded the German Jazz Prize in 2023.

Julia Kadel – a musical experience between depth, freedom, inner strength and poetic presence.

On Nov 25th, 2025 Julia will perform solo at the rejazz-festival.
