Holly Schlott

lead, composition

Awarded the German Jazz Prize 2023 in the woodwind category

Holly Schlott can look back on an impressive musical career that can hardly be summed up in a few words. Born in Vogtland in 1958 and at home in Berlin since 1974, she began her studies at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music at the age of 16 – the start of a career that has taken her to stages all over the world.

Holly became known with the celebrated bands Fun Horns and FAVO, as well as through her long-standing collaboration with Jocelyn B. Smith. Over the decades, she has played with greats such as Baby Sommer, Joachim Kühn, Cecil Taylor, Gebhard Ullmann, Simon Nabatov, Tony Lakatos – and even with Mikis Theodorakis, Chaka Khan and Udo Lindenberg.

But Holly is more than just a brilliant saxophonist and composer: as a producer, arranger and passionate teacher, she has been sharing her knowledge for many years – for example at the Hanns Eisler Music Conservatory and the Jazz Institute Berlin.

On Nov 20th, 2025 Holly brings her Large Ensemble UNIQUE to the rejazz-festival – a powerful sounding project that combines musical diversity, personality and visionary energy in an impressive way.
