„…a visionary… music of intimacy, restraint and conviction… remarkable“
– The Guardian

Swiss harpist Julie Campiche is on a continuous course of innovation with her instrument. As a pathbreaking pioneer, she has organically integrated the harp into the worlds of jazz and contemporary music. By subtly expanding her instrument with electronic effects, she has developed a deeply personal, unmistakable sonic language. Her musical approach is always shaped by the urgent questions of her generation, lending her work a determined yet fragile dynamic.

Alongside her international touring activity in Europe’s major clubs and renowned festivals, the winner of the Swiss Music Prize has built a stellar reputation as a visionary composer and sound designer (including work for the Swiss French radio RTS as well as multidisciplinary large-scale projects like the Youth Olympic Games).

For her outstanding creative output, she has been awarded cultural grants from the Leenaards Foundation, received a long-term funding agreement from the City of Geneva, and was honored with the prestigious Swiss Music Prize.

Whether in a duo, quartet, or in interdisciplinary performances – Julie Campiche always seeks the infinitely universal within the depths of intimacy.

With her solo project Unspoken, Julie Campiche embarks into a new, deeply moving dimension. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s famous quote “For most of history, Anonymous was a woman,” she dedicates this program to women and female empowerment. Each composition tells the intimate story of a woman – whether famous or anonymous, from the past or the present.

Driven by a profound need for connection and solidarity, Julie Campiche uses her harp, electronic effects, and spoken-word elements to give voice to those women who have all too often been silenced or made invisible.

The result is a fascinating electro-acoustic sound universe full of raw emotion – a cinematic atmosphere of urgent yet fragile beauty.

“A remarkable solo performance full of immediate emotion […] reminiscent of the enigmatic sound worlds of a David Lynch film.” – nwrjazz (D)
