Inspired by this quote from the legendary Lee Konitz, an extraordinary duo has evolved over more than a decade: saxophonist Birgitta Flick and pianist Antje Rößeler – a meeting of two visionary bandleaders. What began as a spontaneous musical encounter between Berlin and Stockholm has grown into a finely tuned dialogue between composition and improvisation, inner worlds and external soundscapes.

With their current project Innen & Außen (Inside & Outside), the two artists delve into the space between structure and freedom – guided by deep curiosity, musical sensitivity, and a fearless openness. The resulting album Sending a Phoenix recorded at the legendary Hansa Studios, creates a poetic sonic space – touching, surprising, and resonating long after the final note.
